In a truly shocking development which shook the world of wrestling to its core, it was announced that Kurt Angle had been dropped from the WWE in April 2020.

Widely considered to be one of the greatest performers to ever step in the ring, there will be a gaping hole left by the larger than life character. It seems hard to believe that this will be the last we see of Angle, and there is plenty of potential for him to move on to other projects. Although this could all be part of an elaborate plan to get him back for a surprise return at a future PPV event.

Angle Can Look Back at a Glittering Career

Among his peers, Angle is regarded as one of the best wrestlers ever to have competed in the WWE. Prior to joining the WWF, Angle had been an amateur wrestler and won a gold medal at the 1996 Olympics. He began watching professional wrestling and found himself admiring one of its biggest stars at the time, Stone Cold Steve Austin. He signed a contract with the WWF in 1998 and stayed with WWF and WWE until 2006. The entertainer participated in other wrestling projects for eleven years before returning to WWE Raw in 2017.

Angle won numerous belts during his time in the WWF/WWE, and is among the most decorated stars in its history. Among his many achievements he has claimed the World Heavyweight title, won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Chris Benoit, and won the King of the Ring in 2000. In addition to these accolades, Angle was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

Potential For a Comeback at Royal Rumble 2021?

For a time when Angle was competing for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, it was hard to conceive that he would ever make a return to the biggest professional wrestling company in the world. But then in April of 2017, it was announced that Angle was back on the books of the WWE and would be returning as the general manager of WWE RAW. This was a major crowd-pleasing event, and it would make sense for the WWE to do something similar down the line if Angle is open to a return.
One potential place for a return to the action would be the Royal Rumble in 2021. This landmark PPV event has a long history of shock entrances and surprise returns, and would be the perfect place for Angle to make a comeback. The unpredictable nature of the event is reflected in betting sites like Legalbetting.com as there are outside markets available such as Tyson Fury or Conor McGregor turning up and winning the competition. Bringing Angle back would certainly be a show-stopper.

Time to Pursue the Acting Career?

Angle has long expressed interest in following in the footsteps of other ex-wrestlers such as The Rock by pursuing a serious career in acting. Up to now, the 51-year-old has appeared in sixteen movies, but none of them have been Hollywood blockbusters and he has acted in minor roles within them. However, now that Angle has left the WWE he will have a lot more time on his hands. This could possibly open the door for bigger acting jobs on the silver screen.

There is no doubt that Angle will be sorely missed in WWE, but it is unlikely that this is the last we have seen of the iconic wrestler. If he doesn’t show up in some big film roles, he may well make a return to the fold at a PPV event in the future.
