WWE has reportedly issued a new edict, advising talent to stop “thigh slapping” when throwing kicks.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, there is chatter regarding WWE fining wrestlers who “thigh slap” when executing kicks for sound effects.

There was a story going around that WWE was fining wrestlers for “thigh slapping” when throwing kicks for sound effects, a practice that has been in wrestling as far back as I can remember.

Fightful Select (subscription required) added more to the story, revealing NXT talent was notified in February to stop the practice via an internal memo, but there was no confirmation of people getting fined or punished. The report notes that there is a sign backstage with big bold letters that said “NO THIGH SLAPPING”.
