Multiple WWE Talents Diagnosed With COVID-19

Yesterday, WWE announced that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre had tested positive for COVID-19. Then, during Raw, McIntyre addressed fans and confirmed that he will still be facing Goldberg at the Royal Rumble

Drew McIntyre tested positive on Sunday, during WWE’s pre-screening measures prior to entering the WWE Thunderdome for television.

Following WWE’s announcement of McIntyre testing positive, Dave Meltzer provided an update on the reported COVID outbreak during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, mentioning others have tested positive. It was also noted that more superstars will probably be kept off of WWE television due to contract tracing.

The report noted that at least four WWE superstars including Drew McIntyre have tested positive for COVID-19. The others included a SmackDown Superstar who was scheduled for this week’s show, a big name who recently returned and an NXT talent. The names of the superstars were not included.

Multiple WWE talents were off last night’s show with no relation to the recent outbreak. A recent report emerged from PWInsider, noting six superstars were backstage at last night’s Raw, but simply were not used.

The recent COVID-19 outbreak has affected multiple promotions, including WWE, AEW, and IMPACT Wrestling.
