Rene Goulet Died Earlier This Year

Former WWE and AWA star Renee Goulet passed away earlier this year, with news surfacing today.

The Cauliflower Alley Club announced Wednesday that Rene Goulet passed away on May 25, at the age of 86. His death was kept private until today.

Goulet’s was a mainstay in the AWA, until eventually signing with the WWWF. He is a former WWWG Tag Team Champion.

In 1981, Rene Goulet and Andre The Giant won the MSG Tag League (World Tag League) tournament for New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

He faced Tito Santana the first WWE match ever televised on the USA Network.

After retiring from in-ring competition, Goulet spent a number of years with WWE working as a road agent for the company.
