During tonight’s Wrestlemania Backlash pay-per-view, the advertised lumberjack match between Damien Priest and The Miz ended up being a branded partnership with Netflix’s original movie Army of The Dead, starring former WWE star Dave Bautista.
Prior to the match, John Morrison was met with zombies instead of traditional lumberjacks backstage. The match featured zombies surrounding the ring.
Damien Priest defeated The Miz in the match, afterward, the Zombies crawled in the ring, leading fans to believe they were eating The Miz and Morrison.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), several WWE developmental talents were used as zombies, including Joe Gacy, Daniel Vidot, and Cal Bloom. The report also notes Jiro Kuroshio and Asher Hale may have also been used.
Army of The Dead promotion was featured during the pay-per-view, with the cold open narrated by Dave Bautista, shots of the movie were pieced together with footage building up matches for the show. Army of The Dead logos were shown during replays throughout the night.
