The finish to last week’s Hell In A Cell main event between Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt was a hot topic following the match, leaving many fans upset on the uncertainly of the result after the broadcast.

WWE reportedly had a different finish in mind, which Vince McMahon opted to go against.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original finish to the match had Bray Wyatt taking a gimmicked bump off the top of the cell, resulting him in not being able to continue the match. Referee Rod Zapata would then stop the match due to Wyatt’s inability to continue. Following the finish, Wyatt would pop up and take Seth Rollins out with the mandible claw.

McMahon decided to go against that idea, have Rollins hit 11 curb stomps during the match, then hit Wyatt with a ladder, chair, tool box, and eventually a sledge hammer. The sledgehammer spot resulted in Zapata calling for the bell, and stopping the match.

In storyline, Zapata issued a statement days later on WWE’s social media digital series The Bump.
