This week’s Raw ended with Alexa Bliss throwing a fireball into Randy Orton’s face whilst he was fighting Triple H in the main event. Orton was originally scheduled to face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, however due to his positive COVID-19 case plans had to change. Despite this, the fireball angle was always meant to happen, according to Fightful Select.

Fightful Select (subscription required) reports that the fireball closing scene was the plan all along, regardless of if it was Drew McIntyre or Triple H. The report also noted that the fireball wasn’t computer generated, however was highly edited before being aired.

Dave Meltzer previously reported that the current plan is for Randy Orton to battle The Fiend, who is yet to return, at the Royal Rumble, and that Orton’s Rumble entry is just a red herring.
