Update: More Details On WWE’s Cutbacks

WWE Hall Of Famer Gerald Brisco received a call from Vince McMahon on Wednesday night, letting him know he is no longer needed in the company.

The longtime WWE employee took to Twitter to reveal the news.

Ok, want to get this out the right way. Last night I received a call from @wwe Chairman Of The board @VinceMcMahon to let me know after 36 years of dedication to @wwe i an no longer needed. I’m ok withthis. I will still be around to help talent. More info will follow. Thanks

According to PWInsider, Gerald Brisco’s departure from the company is the start to another round of cuts at WWE. The financial cutbacks are expected to begin today. It’s unknown if this simply means furloughed employees will get their termination papers, or additional employees and talent will be released.

Gerald Brisco has been with WWE since 1984, working initially as a talent with his brother Jack, then transitioning into a backstage role with the company. For the last 10 years Brisco has been a talent scout for the company.

On April 15, WWE made major cutbacks, releasing a number of talent, and furloughing dozens of employees. While some employees have been brought back, have yet to be called to make a return.

As this is a developing story, updates will be provided as they are known.
