Sunday night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view was originally advertised to have a Hair vs. Hair match between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.

This past Friday on SmackDown, the stipulation was changed to a Loser Leaves WWE match, resulting in Mandy Rose defeating Sonya Deville at the SummerSlam event.

This storyline occured during a real life incident involving both Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. The pair escaped from Deville’s home after an stalker broke in the previous weekend.

In the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed the reasoning behind the match stipulation being changed so abruptly, citing Deville’s lawyer requesting she not cut her hair.

“The reason that they switched the stipulation from the Hair vs. Hair to the Loser Leaves Town was because her lawyer basically said with this thing going on, it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair, and get your head shaved in court. It was kind of like, ‘let’s get out of this’.”

The big question is when Deville will return from a leave from the company. WWE historically brings back talent after losing this type of match.

“They did an impromptu Loser Leaves Town, and maybe because the case she’s going to take some time off, I know there is other projects she was looking at doing. Obviously she’s going to be back at some point. I wonder if anyone really believes she’s gone, because they never adhere to their stips.”

Following the match, an interviewer with WWE digital asked Sonya what’s next after her loss at SummerSlam. She responded, “do not call me that ever again”, and pushed the camera away.

This has many speculating she may return under her real name Daria.
