Taya Valkyrie Is Headed To NXT

Former IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie has signed a deal with WWE.

According to PWInsider, Valkyrie has agreed to terms on a deal with WWE, and will start under the NXT banner. She is expected to be part of the next WWE Performance Center class.

Valkyrie was at the latest set of NXT television tapings, it’s unknown if she was simply backstage or finalizing contract details.

Triple H recently noted the next WWE Performance Center class will have the largest “quotient of female talent to date”

During a recent virtual meet-and-greet, Taya Valkyrie spoke on her exit from IMPACT, and discussed her future in pro-wrestling.

“Well, I really enjoy both(AEW and WWE) products. Obviously I’m a wrestling fan, always have been. There’s a lot of people that get into wrestling [that] are wrestling fans, surprise, and honestly, I don’t know what’s gonna happen next for me because as a lot of people don’t realize is that I have been signed for about eight and a half years from AAA into Lucha Underground into IMPACT and this is actually my first-ever time in my career as a free agent. So, it’s a really important time for me to really think about what’s important for me, for my family and make the best decision moving forward for my career. So, we will see. It will all play out, don’t worry.”

Taya Valkyrie’s contract with IMPACT Wrestling lapsed at the end of 2020. She appeared on IMPACT programming last month, making her final appearance for the promotion in a backstage segment. She admitting she was the mastermind behind Jon E. Bravo’s storyline murder before being led out of the building.

It’s unknown if she will keep the same ring name once she begins with WWE. In December, she trademarked the name Taya Valkyrie to be used in pro-wrestling. Due to WWE not being able to have ownership of the name, they may change it, but that is simply speculation at this point.

She currently holds the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, defeating Tessa Blanchard in 2019. She previously held the title for a record 914 days, prior to losing it in 2017. It’s unknown how AAA plans to handle her recent signing with WWE.

Valkyrie is married to current Monday Night RAW star John Hennigan, better known as John Morrison.
