In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer spoke about the MVP situation as a producer/ talent.

MVP returned to WWE as an entrant in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match, only to be eliminated in Brock Lesnar’s rampage of destruction. Shortly after MVP’s elimination, Brock Lesnar was Claymored over the top rope by the eventual rumble winner, Drew McIntyre.

The next night on Raw, MVP appeared to put over Rey Mysterio, he then became a producer for the red brand, making multiple appearances to host MVP’s VIP Lounge. A little while later, Raw Executive Director Paul Heyman chose MVP to become Bobby Lashley’s manager and mouthpiece, in hope that Lashley could be pushed back into the world title picture.

MVP appeared on Main Event as an announcer as well as working as a producer backstage. Unfortunately due to the recent pandemic, WWE has had to furlough many employees, with a large part of the producer team being sent home. MVP was one of them due to his late hiring, despite this he continues to appear as an on-screen talent, managing Bobby Lashley who has a WWE Championship opportunity against Drew Mcintyre next weekend at Backlash.

After Dave Meltzer reported that MVP was no longer employed as a producer, the current manager of Bobby Lashley took to Instagram and said the following: ’Please do not believe what the ”dirt sheets” tell you about me. If you don’t hear it from me, its not true.’

Despite this he didn’t actually mention what Meltzer had said, however it’s clear that’s what he was pointing at.

It’s possible that MVP and the other producers will be given back their roles once the economics change and WWE feel like they are in a safer position to spend more money.
