WWE is working diligently in setting up their next NXT brand, and has Japan in mind for the latest venture.
The company has been speaking with various other promotions in Japan to help upstart the Japanese NXT branch.
Dave Meltzer noted today in the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE wanted to purchase Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH, but the deal did not go through. The company has talked to a number of promotions, and as of now it’s unknown if any deals have gone through.
Pro Wrestling NOAH was founded by Mitsuharu Misawa in 2000. The promotion’s parent company was taken over by LIDET Entertainment earlier this year.
Earlier this summer, MLW announced a working agreement with NOAH, which would include a talent-exchange agreement between both promotions.
WWE has spoken with two big names to be hired as trainers for NXT Japan, but no further details are known at this time.
WWE is rumored to be making a NXT Japan announcement soon.
