WWE may be moving its weekly NXT production from Full Sail University to larger venues, similar to All Elite Wrestling.

Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is in talks with larger buildings to shoot television on Wednesday nights.

“There is a lot of talk regarding taking NXT on the road every Wednesday and looking at 5,000-seat buildings, similar to AEW,” Meltzer stated. “The target seems to be January, because WWE has inquired about buildings of that size to shoot television on Wednesday nights.”

The company is looking at 5,000-seat venues for their weekly NXT on USA series beginning in January. Preliminary plans were made prior to WWE airing their first NXT episode on the USA Network from Full Sail University.

WWE felt like there was not enough time to secure larger venues, and has been using Full Sail University as NXT’s venue until availability was available for bigger buildings.

NXT on USA has come up short in viewership two weeks in a row going head-to-head with AEW on TNT.

“As noted, once week one ratings came out, with NXT having such a strong show on 10/4 and having spent two weeks building it, the location was more likely to get the blame,” – Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE and Full Sail University launched a partnership in 2012 to bring NXT tapings to the Full Sail campus. It’s unknown if WWE moves to larger venues if it will still utilize the facility for other events.

All Elite Wrestling currently holds their weekly Dynamite series at venues that that have seating capacities between approximately 6500 – 15,000 patrons.
