WWE is expected to make a major announcement tonight, implementing crossover between RAW and SmackDown superstars.

According to John Pollock of Post Wrestling, WWE is set to introduce a ruling, which is being explained as ” simpler version of last year’s ill-fated Wild Card rule”.

Specific details are unknown, but it’s expected that crossover between talent will be minimal.

The report indicates the idea came from the networks, following record low numbers from RAW, and consistent low viewership for SmackDown.

In May 2019, Vince McMahon introduced the “Wild Card Rule”, which allowed up to four wrestlers to appear on opposing brands. Unsanctioned appearances would have penalties, but this was often ignored.

WWE eventually stopped implementing the rule, and presented RAW and SmackDown stars on separate programming.
