Last night, we witnessed the ‘go home’ episode of SmackDown Live; a preview of what’s to come this Sunday at Clash of Champions.

This is the first time a SmackDown airing has been held at the Madison Square Garden arena since 2005.

The Undertaker Opens SmackDown

The Undertaker returns to SmackDown Live, informing the WWE Universe of his gratitude to be in the MSG arena once again.

Meanwhile, Sami Zayn arrives and demands Undertaker to leave the ring.

‘The Deadman’ declines & chokslams Zayn.

Miz versus Andrade

The Miz is the #1 contender to Shinsuke Nakamura’s WWE Intercontinental Championship at Clash of Champions.

The Former WWE Champion is looking to become a record-tying 9-time Intercontinental title holder.

The Miz retains his contendership against Andrade after laying him out with the ‘Skull Crushing Finale’.

Nakamura then ambushes his challenger after the match.

‘The Artist’ plants the Kinshasas to ‘The A-Lister’ as a prelude to their Clash of Champions match.

Cross versus Rose

Thirdly, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, are feuding with the team of Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.

In singles action and due to Bliss’ aid, Cross consequently rolls up Rose for a pinfall victory.

Heavy Machinery in action

Fourthly, the team of Tucker and Otis, known as Heavy Machinery, defeats local jobbers.

Rowan Attacks Reigns

Rowan cuts an in-ring promo about his intelligence before being confronted by ‘The Big Dog’.

Nonetheless, Reigns fails in his assault and is layed out by Rowan.

Rowan goes on a melee as he attacks and powerbombs a planted “fan” as well.

Bayley versus Moon

Bayley, who has recently turned heel to re-align with Sasha Banks, defeats Ember Moon in a quick match.

The Smackdown Women’s Champion is attacked by her challenger for the title, Charlotte Flair; forcing Bayley to retreat.

Kingston and Orton confrontation

The WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston, cuts a promo as he reminisces of attacking Randy Orton in MSG of 2009.

‘The Viper’ comes out to confront Kingston & claims that his WWE title reign is incomparable to the Orton legacy.

After trading insults, they inevitably brawl into the crowd area as Orton utilizes a steel chair.

However, Kingston fends off Orton. Kingston then repeats his 2009 moment of Double Leg Dropping Orton through a table in MSG.

Kingston and Orton will have their WWE title rematch at Clash of Champions this Sunday.

Main Event KOTR Semi-final Match

SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon appoints his rival, Kevin Owens, as the special guest referee in the main event match.

Shane offers Owens a deal; if Owens ensures Shane’s victory, he’ll drop Owens’ $100,000 fine.

In addition, McMahon is replacing Elias in the King of the Ring semi-final match against Chad Gable.

This is due to Elias sustaining an ankle injury. As a result, he’s out of the tournament.

‘The Prizefighter’ lives up to his name & fast-counts for McMahon.

Nevertheless, Gable solidifies his victory as he defeats McMahon via submission by way of the ankle lock.

In a shocking turn of events, the Commissioner fires Kevin Owens.

In conclusion, Chad Gable will wrestle Baron Corbin, the night after Clash of Champions, on the following September 16th episode of RAW to determine the 2019 King of the Ring.
