SummerSlam 2020 Will Be Held In Boston

WWE announced today that SummerSlam 2020 will be held in Boston, MA on Sunday August 23, 2020.

The company will hold four events at the Boston Garden, including SmackDown Live, NXT Takeover, SummerSlam, and Monday Night RAW.

The company issued the following.

STAMFORD, Conn., August 8, 2019 – As first announced in the Boston Globe, Boston will host SummerSlam Week in August 2020 with SmackDown LIVE, NXT TakeOver, SummerSlam and Monday Night Raw taking place at TD Garden over four consecutive nights.

2020 Key Dates:

  • Friday, Aug. 21 – SmackDown LIVE
  • Saturday, Aug. 22 – NXT TakeOver
  • Sunday, Aug. 23 – SummerSlam
  •  Monday, Aug. 24 – Monday Night Raw

SummerSlam is more than just a one-day event, it’s a multi-day celebration, as WWE will host a series of activities including autograph signings and community outreach programs designed to leave a lasting impact throughout the New England region.

“We are thrilled to bring WWE’s biggest event of the summer to Boston in 2020,” said John P. Saboor, WWE Executive Vice President, Special Events.  “We are grateful to Mayor Walsh, Governor Baker and our partners at TD Garden and look forward to working with them to welcome the world to one of America’s great sports and entertainment cities.”

“On behalf of the City of Boston, we are excited to once again host WWE SummerSlam at TD Garden,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “SummerSlam attracts fans from all across the world, and we are excited to welcome them all to our city for this hallmark WWE event.”

“We have an incredible history with WWE and are honored that they have once again selected TD Garden as the home of SummerSlam”, said Amy Latimer, president of TD Garden. “We’ve dramatically enhanced the arena experience with the addition of The Hub on Causeway and recent arena expansion, and we are thrilled to showcase these tremendous upgrades with fans for one of WWE’s biggest marquee events.”

Additional details, including ticket availability and travel packages, will be announced in the near future.

Ronda Rousey Nearly Severs Finger On Set Of TV Show (Graphic Photo)

Ronda Rousey’s middle finger was nearly severed during filming of the television show 9-1-1.

The former RAW Women’s Champion suffered injury to her ring and middle finger according to TMZ. Rousey reportedly slammed a door on her fingers while shooting a scene for the show in Mexico.

As seen in the photo below, Rousey’s middle finger was almost severed as result of the injury. Her middle finger was broken, and her ring finger suffered a fractured tip.

 

Rousey was rushed to hospital, where her middle finger was repaired with a bolt and screws. She went back to work the next day.

NXT on USA Network TV Taping Update, How To Watch Outside U.S.

WWE officially announced NXT’s move to USA Network this morning. The company sent out a press release, and posted the news on all digital platforms.

The company has re-scheduled television tapings originally set for 9/11 and 9/12, moving them to 9/18 and 9/25, the first two live episodes airing on USA Network.

NXT utilizes a different platform for ticketing its Full Sail University shows, and according to the ticket website, both events are sold out.  Those who have tickets for the 9/11 and 9/12 shows automatically have their tickets honoured for the 9/18 and 9/28 USA Network events.

WWE has yet to strike any agreements with cable providers outside the U.S for NXT.  The company will continue to air NXT on the WWE Network on a 24-hour tape delay. WWE Network will air episodes of weekly NXT television every Thursday at 8 pm ET. WWE Network subscribers will be sent notices regarding this change.

NXT’s first episode on USA Network will air live from Full Sail University on September 18

WWE Announces NXT Moving To USA Network

WWE officially announced NXT’s move to USA Network beginning September 18, 2019.

The company issued the following press release this morning.

NEW YORK & STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– WWE® (NYSE: WWE) and USA Network today announced an agreement in principle to air WWE’s weekly Wednesday night show, NXT, live on USA Network at 8/7c starting September 18.

Following NXT’s growth in popularity, the new two-hour weekly show will expand its reach on USANetwork, the leader in cable entertainment, while staying in its Wednesday night timeslot that it has held since 2015.

“The move to USA Network provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with NBCUniversal and further build the NXT brand,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO. “Over the long term our goal is to develop a following that can be monetized to the same level as our flagship programs, Raw® and SmackDown®.”
