WWE has filed multiple trademarks for the name “Saturday Night’s Main Event”. The term is best known for the iconic WWE show which originally aired on from 1985 – 1992. The show was revived for five episodes in the mid 2000s.
On August 11, WWE filed four trademarks for the term the following uses.

Earlier this year, WWE filed a “notice of extension” on a previous trademark they owned for to use in a wrestling if they ever plan to revive the the show.
WWE originally trademarked the term in 1990, under its former corporate name Titan Sports Inc. The trademark was abandoned in 1992. The company filed a new trademark in 1992, with two different stylized logos, which was abandoned in 2001.
In 2008, the company filed a merchandise trademark for the name, and spent two years dealing with issues gaining ownership. The United States Patent and Trademark Office cited possible confusion with other trademarks bearing the name “The Main Event”.
WWE was granted a 10-year trademark in August 2010, for the following merchandise, cinematographic and television films, namely, motion picture films in the nature of wrestling; pre-recorded phonograph records, pre-recorded compact discs, pre-recorded video tapes, pre-recorded video cassette tapes, pre-recorded DVDS and pre-recorded audio cassettes, all featuring wrestling.
In 2018, WWE filed trademark once again for the term to be used outside merchandise, more specifically for “Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling”.
In 2019, the USPTO asked WWE to submit documentation to ensure they have used the trademark in commerce. In May 2020, WWE filed an extension to prepare the proper documentation. They can submit up to 5 extensions every 6 months to keep their filing active.
