Enzo and Big Cass could be making a surprise return to the WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE wants Enzo Amore and Big Cass to return to the company, specially to work for NXT as top stars on that brand. WWE has been in contact with the duo, but it’s unknown if they have accepted any offers.
“WWE has been in contact with Enzo and Cass about a surprise return to be top stars on the NXT brand,” Meltzer states “We don’t know if they’ve accepted, but Cass really hasn’t done much on the indie scene and has also made it clear he wants to get back. Enzo, who really knows.”
If they agree to sign with the company, speculation at this point is that they would either return at the first show at Full Sail University on September 18, or the third show on October 2 when NXT goes head-to-head with AEW’s TNT debut.
The duo had issues backstage while working on the main roster, but a return to NXT may not bring them the same type of heat. Their return as top stars in NXT could gain a lot negativity from those on social media.
Enzo Amore was released from WWE on January 23, 2018 after sexual assault allegations were made against him. The allegations led to a police investigation, which resulted in no sufficient evidence, and the case was dropped. Enzo attended the 2018 Survivor Series, and caused a disruption, which resulted in him being banned from events at the arena.
Big Cass was released from WWE on June 18, 2018 due to backstage issues. Cass later opened up about his alcohol problems, which led to a seizure at a House of Hardcore event in December of 2018.
Big Cass and Enzo Amore began working as nZo and CazXL once they left WWE, and have had a few appearances on the independent scene, as well as a brief angle in Ring Of Honor earlier this year.
