Tommaso Ciampa Needs Neck Surgery
Tommaso Ciampa will be out of action for an extended period of time.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tommaso Ciampa is scheduled to undergo neck surgery.
It was originally thought Ciampa would work through Wrestlemania, and then take time off to take care of his injuries, but the state of his neck requires surgery almost immediately.
Tommaso is no longer scheduled for NXT Takeover, and it’s expected Tommaso Ciampa will relinquish the NXT Championship.
NXT will have their next TV tapings at Full Sail University on 3/13, which could provide more insight on the future of the championship.
Tommasso Ciampa was recently called up to the main roster, but was pulled from the road last week due to issues with his neck.
Ciampa has not been medically cleared since, and has also been pulled out of two independent appearances.
He is scheduled for surgery sometime this week, and no return date is known. It’s expected he will be out for a long period of time.
Ciampa ruptured his ACL in 2017, which kept him out of action for close to a year.
