Lio Rush Wants Double The Money He’s Been Offered

Additional reports have surfaced regarding Lio Rush’s attitude backstage, as well as a contract offer from WWE, which he turned down.

Yesterday, Lio Rush gave his side of the story to Fightful regarding reports of an incident on the European tour where he wouldn’t carry water for veteran wrestlers, as well as heat he has gained backstage.

PWInsider adds to that story stating that The Authors of Pain and Drake Maverick were also junior members of the main roster during that tour, and had no issues doing menial tasks, such as carrying water for veteran wrestlers.

Mark Henry responded to the story today on Busted Open Radio stating that when he started with the company his responsibility was assisting Yokozuna. Henry stated “It’s not a race issue. It’s an ego issue. Who are you? Nobody is exempt from being respectful to the business and paying homage to the guys drawing money. We all have done it. Steve Austin did it. The Rock did it. You better than The Rock? Get the hell out of here!”

There has also been multiple complaints of Lio Rush bringing his wife backstage, allowing her to change in the women’s locker room. There was also an incident where Rush brought a group backstage who did not have proper credentials. The group began yelling at a female member of WWE’s security team.

Several sources also confirm that another veteran talent(not Finn Balor) attempted to speak to Rush about backstage issues, which caused Rush to tell him he works for Vince, and not him. Rush then complained to WWE management, who spoke to the person who tried giving Rush advice. Members of the WWE roster room were not happy with Rush complaining to management, and had him removed from the locker room for a period of time.

In yesterday’s interview with Fightful, Rush claims he had issue with paying for rental cars and accommodations. He stated he is “broke in the biggest sports entertainment industry that there is while having two kids and a wife to support.”

Mark Henry spoke on Rush’s claims that he is broke, stating “If you can’t pay for a rental car, you can’t pay for a hotel with the money that you’re making every week then you need to change the way you’re spending. You can’t blame that on the office. If you spent everything before you got it, that’s your problem.”

PWInsider has confirmed that Rush was offered a new, five-year contract with the WWE, which is worth $300,000. Rush turned down the offer, stating he wants double that number.  Rush also asked the company that they should release him so he can “show them” what he could accomplish outside WWE.

There has been talk of moving Lio Rush back to NXT, and presenting him as a new character. Rush’s current contract with WWE ends in 2020.
