WWE made a major announcement this week moving its biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania 36 from Tampa to the WWE’s training facility in Orlando.

Wrestlemania 36 was expected to draw over 60,000 fans inside the Raymond James Stadium. The event will now be performed in front of zero fans inside WWE’s Performance Center.

Wrestlenomics released estimated figures on the amount WWE stood to lose moving the event.

According to estimates, Wrestlemania 36 would have grossed $22 million. This includes $15 million for the pay-per-view, and an additional $4 million for other shows including NXT TakeOver, and WWE Hall Of Fame. Merchandise sales would be estimated at $3 million based on averages from the last two years’ events.

This money does not include any additional fees the company may have incurred with set design, rental fees, and rescheduling travel arrangements.

Wrestlemania 36 is one of the biggest events for the City Of Tampa and was expected to have a major economic impact on the region.

Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission anticipated Wrestlemania will generate about 50,000 hotel bookings.

Wrestlemania 35 generated $165.4 million in revenue New York/New Jersey region.
