WWE CEO Vince McMahon Reportedly Believes COVID-19 Is Not That Serious
WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly believes COVID-19, its threats, and its effects are not a serious thing — at least according to what was implied by Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer.
Amid concerns and questions asked about the real status of the WWE in the middle of this pandemic, it appears that the head of the organization shares the same point of view with UFC’s Dana White and US President Donald Trump– that covid-19, despite everything that has happened already, is still nothing to be worried over.
It can be recalled that one of the effects of the covid-19 pandemic was a big hit on the sports and entertainment industry. Most major leagues and sporting seasons were cancelled, and the whole world of sports seemed to have stopped for several months. This included sports betting, and the delays in most games affected the odds and predictions that bettors rely on in making their wagers. Luckily, bookmakers are still here to help bettors out, and you can read more information on that on the best review sites.
In a report by Wrestling News, Alvarez made it clear that while there had been rumors about this way of thinking that McMahon has, the WWE head has not opened up about it publicly, or at in a way that has been documented.
“Vince McMahon has never said anything publicly about what he thinks about the coronavirus. He’s never said anything publicly,” he said. “I have heard from multiple sources that Vince does not think that this is all that bad. I hesitate to even say that. I’m not sitting here saying that he outright thinks it’s a hoax or whatever. There’s a lot of people in this country that still believe, at worst, it’s a bad flu. The impression that I have been given from people within the company is that’s Vince’s mindset.”
It can be remembered that McMahon decided to keep WWE programs going, and there had been rumors that he did not recommend testing on staff members and players until one star tested positive. Until then, the WWE had only done temperature checks. Multiple tests were conducted, and several people returned as positive for covid-19.
On Wearing Masks
One of the most heated topics about the whole covid-19 pandemic is the wearing of face masks. While there is overwhelming evidence of wearing masks helping contain the spread of the virus, causing the disease, there are still people and even groups of people who are fighting against the wearing of masks. The reasons can go from personal preference to alleged health risks and to even risks of death due to wearing masks.
However, top WWE star Kevin Owens, who had not appeared on any recent WWE programs, gave a statement that supports and encourages the wearing of face masks to help stop the spread of the virus.
“At worst, wearing a mask and social distancing does nothing,” said Owens in a tweet. “At best, it helps saves lives. While at worst, making fun of people wearing a mask, and not wearing a mask yourself, and telling people not to wear a mask can help spread this disease and make things worse. And at best, if you’re doing that and belittling people and calling them ignorant for wearing masks, at best, you’re making fun of people who are trying to do what they think is best for their community.”
Owen had first-hand experience with covid-19, as he lost a loved one in the fight against it.
