WWE is scheduled to move production of the ThunderDome beginning next month.

Last week, Dave Meltzer noted discussions were underway regarding moving the ThunderDome to Tropicana Field in Tampa after their lease with Orlando’s Amway Center ends at the end of the month.

Today, eWrestling news was first to report WWE finalizing plans to move production to the MLB stadium, Wrestlevotes later confirmed the news, stating WWE plans to produce events beginning mid-December until Wrestlemania season.

The company is hoping they can host traditional live arena shows with fans in attendance the night after Wrestlemania 37.

Newest plan now is to have ThunderDome shows at Tropicana Field in Tampa starting mid December thru Mania season. Fans at the Royal Rumble still possible, potentially even at the Trop in TB. WWE is hoping to start traditional live arena shows w/ fans the night after WrestleMania.

It’s not gonna look much different than the current ThunderDome.

Tropicana Field is a non-retractable Major League Baseball stadium, which at one point was called ThunderDome, when it hosted the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning from 1993 – 1996. The stadium lists a capacity of 42,735.

WWE’s lease with Orlando’s Amway Center expires on 11/24. The company has been instructed to have all equipment out of the arena by 12/5.
