NJPW’s Tama Tonga has criticized AEW’s recent trademarks.

In recent months, All Elite Wrestling has filed to trademark the terms ‘too sweet’ and ‘forbidden door’. The first of which Tama Tonga already called out, stating how AEW can take it as the Bullet Club doesn’t use it anymore.

All Elite Wrestling and NJPW have formed a working relationship after Kenta appeared on Dynamite to fuel his feud against Jon Moxley, which will culminate at NJPW New Beginnings on February 26th.

On the latest episode of ‘Tama’s Island’, Tama addressed AEW’s recent trademarks and how he finds it petty.

“I saw AEW trademarked [Forbidden Door]. Ya’ll getting real petty with that. Trademarking ‘too sweet’ and ‘forbidden door.’ Ya’ll playing a stupid game that WWE is playing. Come on man, I thought ya’ll were trying to be different. Come on AEW. Tony Khan, you mark, you been in business two years? Where were you four or five years ago? Shut up. You grab the losers to boost the ratings. That’s why you failed at business,”

The ‘losers’ Tama was referencing were Juice Robinson and David Finlay, who appeared on this week’s episode of Impact. Tama stated how without NJPW, there wouldn’t be a ‘forbidden door’.

“New Japan is responsible for all of this. If it wasn’t for New Japan, there would be no forbidden door, no KENTA, no FinJuice. Everyone is looking for help and looking towards New Japan. Then they take, take, take, and not a ‘thank you,'”

Tama went on to address Dave Meltzer’s recent report that Kazuchika Okada would be appearing in another company as part of one of NJPW’s partnerships.

“Okada ain’t going nowhere. Why would he degrade himself to that standard?”
