It was previously reported that Sammy Guevara didn’t like the creative direction with an angle scheduled to be shot with Impact Wrestling, following his storyline departure from the Inner Circle.

Guevara repeatedly contacted Impact directly to express his displeasure with the creative direction, with Scott D’amore advising him he wasn’t needed as soon as he arrived in Nashville for the tapings.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has provided an update on the situation, revealing how Guevara pitched winning Impact’s X-Division Title before returning with AEW with the belt.

Meltzer noted that the Guevara was set to debut in the six-man tag match which would have aired on next Tuesday’s episode. The angle could have seen him team with Ace Austin and Chris Bey to take on Willie Mack, Trey Miguel, and Josh Alexander. Guevara’s place has now gone to Black Taurus of Decay.

Guevara proposed a storyline that would see him win the X-Division Championship and return to Dynamite with the title, with him eventually being stripped of the belt and it being taken into a tournament. Impact reportedly didn’t like this idea, and because the original storyline was proposed by Chris Jericho and Don Callis, it made the two look bad when Guevara didn’t agree to the storyline.

The report also noted that Guevara isn’t expected to be coming back to Impact, and despite the company being unhappy after how the situation went down at first, things have seemed to smooth out.
