Update on WWE’s interest in using cutouts at WrestleMania 37.

Following the 2021 SuperBowl’s success of using cardboard cutouts at the Raymond James Stadium to fill 30,000 empty seats due to the 25,000 physical attendance capacity, fans have speculated whether the same could happen for WrestleMania 37.

It was previously reported by WrestleVotes, WWE were initially against the idea of filling empty seats with cardboard cutouts, however the decision could be discussed again following the success of the SuperBowl.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has now provided an update on the situation, including Vince McMahon’s initial reaction.

It was noted that they have heard varying views regarding the use of cardboard cutouts, with several names pushing for them to be used due to the fact that it made the SuperBowl audience look full. However, Vince McMahon didn’t share the same view. Select mentioned that ‘at least initially’, McMahon was ‘not in favor’ of using cardboard cutouts to replace the empty seats.

“We’ve been told that at least initially, Vince McMahon himself was not in favor of them”

Wrestlemania 37 will be held on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 on PPV and Peacock (United States). WWE has yet to officially announce an on-sale date for tickets.

The company currently has four matches penciled in for the event, which can be found here (potential spoilers).
