Network Advises AEW Not To Debut Surprises On Dynamite

TNT apparently doesn’t want AEW to have surprise debuts during their flagship weekly series Dynamite.

During the latest episode of the Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho said TNT didn’t want any more surprise debuts after Sting appeared this past December on AEW Dynamite

The reasoning behind this rule is to take advantage of the ratings. AEW announced the signing of Paul Wight on social media ahead of his arrival on Dynamite.

“When Sting was a surprise, [TNT] was like ‘don’t do that again.’ That’s why Paul Wight was announced on social media because TNT said, ‘We don’t want surprises, we want to take advantage of the ratings.’ We had a big surprise, a big announcement, and we used the big announcement to announce the next big surprise. I think that’s one of the reasons too, to spread it out a little”

All Elite Wrestling’s last major surprise was Christian Cage signing a contract during their Revolution pay-per-view this past February.
