The Don Callis Family won the men’s Blood and Guts match on the November 4 episode of Dynamite, beating Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, Steven Borden and The Young Bucks in Jacksonville, Florida.
The match came down to Adam Copeland giving up to save his team. Copeland was choked with a chain while Kyle Fletcher held a screwdriver to Ospreay and threatened to stab him with it. Fletcher told Copeland to submit or surrender, and Copeland surrendered to stop the attack on Ospreay.
The finish gives the Don Callis Family momentum heading into Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix, Arizona, where Fletcher challenges Ospreay for the AEW World Championship. Fletcher said after the match that he will be world champion at Full Gear, and the way this one ended backs up the threat. Ospreay was left beaten down in the cage while his own teammate had to quit to protect him.
The match was violent from start to finish. Wardlow threw Darby Allin off the top of the cage and through a stack of tables on the floor. Borden was double powerbombed onto thumbtacks by Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. The match can only be won by submission or surrender, and the Don Callis Family made sure it ended on their terms.
Before the match, Mick Foley spoke with Team Ospreay, while Renee Paquette spoke with the Don Callis Family. The two teams have been building to this since the October 21 episode of Dynamite, when Borden returned and the match was set.
What is confirmed is the Don Callis Family win, the surrender finish, and Fletcher against Ospreay for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear. What is not confirmed is how Ospreay responds next week, or whether Copeland and Ospreay stay on the same page after Copeland had to quit for him.
