AEW President Tony Khan has leaned heavily on key wrestlers like Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley to serve as leaders within the locker room. Danielson, in particular, has emerged as more than just an in-ring talent; he has become increasingly involved in the creative aspects of AEW.
Aside from the wrestlers, Khan has enlisted various professionals to manage backstage operations, spanning both AEW and its sister promotion, ROH. Within AEW, which has grown to become a significant player in the world of professional wrestling, Danielson’s role has expanded to include responsibilities that go beyond his wrestling career.
Danielson, a highly respected figure in the wrestling world with years of experience, faced an unfortunate turn of events when he broke his arm during a main-event match against Kazuchika Okada at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June. Though temporarily sidelined, Danielson had been actively participating in the creative direction of the company leading up to his injury.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Khan was asked whom he would trust to assemble an AEW show if he were unable to do so. Khan revealed that he has specifically told his father, Shad Khan, to turn to Danielson under such circumstances.
Although Danielson’s recent absence is attributed to his ongoing recovery, Khan made it clear that if he were ever incapacitated or unable to manage the show for any reason, Danielson is the go-to person he has advised his father to consult.
