Making your money stretch further with free bets is a good way to improve your bottom line.

Becoming a better bettor is more than just a catchy title. Lots of people enjoy having a flutter on their favorite sports, but when it comes to wrestling there are a few subtle differences that can turn an experienced bettor into a not-so-great punter. Whether you’re looking to become a professional, or just hoping to improve your track record a little, these tips should help you on your way. Some might seem obvious, others a little obscure, but they each play an important part when it comes to betting on wrestling.

Seek Out Value

Although this tip might sound obvious, there are more ways than you might think of getting the best value bet. One of the best ways to ensure a higher success rate is to make sure you’re getting the deals wherever it’s possible. Free bets make your percentage wins higher against your stake, so it’s sensible to sniff them out before placing any big bets. It’s worth bearing in mind that the majority of online betting companies offer the most generous deals to new customers, so if you’re thinking of starting a new betting account then make sure you only start one when an offer is available. Free bets for existing customers do come around as well and the best way to make sure that you know about them is to sign up for the mailing list. Whilst some mailing list emails can be a bit spammy and pretty much useless, others will include special deals that will only be available to those on the list. If you can’t stand trawling through deals to get to your important emails then consider making a dedicated account for your wrestling betting emails to go to.

Not All Wrestling is Created Equal

Whilst some wrestling is slightly scripted, other wrestling is totally undecided. Make sure you know what you’re betting on before committing

Deciding the sort of wrestling that you’re going to bet on and sticking to it is a really good way for a beginner to gain confidence. Whilst WWE has the largest following, it is also the most scripted. This doesn’t mean that having a bet is a waste of time, but it does mean that an in-depth knowledge of the wrestlers and their backstories will stand you in good stead. Swotting up as much as you can help you to work out who is pinned to win.

If you’re betting on genuine competitive wrestling then again, knowledge will get you everywhere. However, the results have definitely not been decided already when it comes to wrestling in the Olympics or the UFC. Here it is important to follow the form of the wrestlers, check that they make their weights, see if they have a history of performing at certain times of day or year better than others. Knowing your sportspeople inside out will make sure you don’t get blindsided by a surprise victor.

Look Out For Comebacks

This tip will do the most good to those who are going to bet on WWE. Whilst all the athleticism and strength on show here is completely real, there are quite a few fans who really love to see their old heroes win. WWE often announces comebacks from their all-time stars and generally speaking, unless the wrestler in question is a beloved villain, the comeback kid is likely to win. Brock Lesnar was recently announced to be making a comeback, so the chances of him winning on his first time back are high.

Interestingly enough, the opposite of this rule is true elsewhere. It takes an enormous amount of dedication to get back into shape for wrestling. This means that often the first match back after a long absence can be underwhelming. Getting back into peak physical condition is sometimes only achieved after a couple of proper matches, so look out for those who are returning and really scrutinize if they’re in good shape or not. Whilst there are exceptions to the rule, a long break is generally not a good sign for those wanting to win a bet.
