Which Team Will Be The First Women’s Tag-Team Champions?
After months of anticipation, the WWE finally announced the long-awaited Women’s Tag-Team Titles. The announcement was sandwiched between two other announcements on the Christmas Eve edition of RAW.
It’s currently unknown how the WWE will crown the inaugural champions, as no extra information was given during the announcement.
The WWE has a few established tag-teams in the Women’s division, as well as other duos who could be paired up to compete the new championship.
It’s not clear if this will be a cross-brand title, or if NXT talent will also be able to compete for the championship.

Lana and Naomi
Despite some tension the duo have had the past, the two do have a real life friendship that has been showcased on social media and Total Divas. Put on some matching outfits, and add some dance steps, and these two could be an eligible candidate to go after the gold.
Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke
If the WWE decides to allow NXT talent into the mix, these two could be paired together for a chance to go after the titles. The MMA Four Horsewomen members are still quite green, but if the WWE decides to do a tournament, and needs some bodies to compete, these two would be perfect candidates.
Nia Jax and Tamina
Tamina has been Nia’s right hand women since she returned from injury. It would only make sense for these two heels to go after the titles. This powerhouse duo could give the other teams a run for their money.
Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville
They did tease a breakup of this duo following Mandy Rose eliminating Sonya Deville from the Evolution Battle Royal. The team could always be managed by their former Absolution leader Paige, since her days as a GM are now over.
Riott Squad
This trio could go after the Women’s Tag-Team Titles as a Freebird style team. The men’s roster has The New Day, the female roster could have the Riott Squad.
The Bella Twins
The Bella’s still hold a lot of name value, especially with a mainstream audience. The success of this duo outside the ring could help promote the Women’s Tag-Team division. It would be a no brainer to have these two go after the titles.
Trish Stratus and Lita
These two WWE legends returned to in-ring action this past year, and could bring some nostalgia to the Women’s tag-team division. It was rumored prior to the team paired up at WWE Evolution that we would see more of them at major events.
IIconics
Peyton Royce and Billie Kay are already an established team in the WWE. This duo have been competing with each other since debuting as the Iconic Duo during their time in NXT.
Alexa Bliss and Mickie James
Since Mickie James return to WWE in 2017, she has had history with Alexa Bliss as both an enemy, as well as a tag-team partner. This duo could be an excellent heel team in the Women’s tag-team division.
Bayley and Sasha Banks
The Boss & Hug Connection have a lot of history during their time in the WWE. They were friends, they were enemies, and now they are a duo that wants to be the first WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. As long as these titles have been rumored, these two have been teasing the fact that they want to be champs.

What About The Other Member’s Of The Women’s Roster?
Some of the major players on the Women’s roster including Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte and Asuka could continue to play out on storylines. Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey are rumored to be main eventing Wrestlemania, Asuka is currently the Smackdown Women’s Champion.
Could we see Carmella and her partner R-Truth try and enter as an inter-gender team?
We also have Alicia Fox, Ember Moon, Natalya, Dana Brooke, Zelina Vega, as well as several stars on the NXT roster who could be brought into the mix.
Regardless how this plays out, once they have the titles established, we should see a number of duos trying to get a chance at the gold.
