AEW Made Large Investment In Gaming Division

Ever since the very start, All Elite Wrestling made their ambitions of creating video games extremely clear, however, this has left the company in the red financially.

During a recent chat with Forbes, AEW CEO Tony Khan discussed his company’s success since their creation, and the similarities to WCW they have faced.

“I don’t want to be the next ‘blank’ wrestling company of the past—fill in the blank,” Khan says of erstwhile promotions McMahon has vanquished over the years. “We love wrestling of the past, wrestling of the present, and wrestling of the future… That’s what gives us a great chance to retain and gain audience share.”

During the interview, it was noted that AEW had received $43.75 million from TNT last year, which made up the largest share of their revenue. Despite this, an eight-figure investment into AEW’s video game development has kept the company in the red for now, however, with rising ticket sales and pay-per-view buys, Khan expects AEW to be profitable by the end of this year.

AEW has announced three games in total so far, with one game already being available to play and another two in development. AEW’s Casino game was released earlier this year, with beta testing currently taking place for their next mobile game, AEW Elite General Manager. The company’s main console game is yet to roll out, however is expected to be released in 2022.
