New Promotion Will Offer Wrestler’s Health and Life Insurance

Alberto El Patron is teaming with fellow WWE alum Chavo Guerrero Jr. to form Nacion Lucha Libre, a new wrestling promotion based in Mexico.

Patron recently revealed that the promotion will be providing something other wrestling companies do not, health and life insurance.

“[Our wrestlers] are going to have health insurance and life insurance. Stuff they don’t have in any other companies.” Patron stated in an interview with the Miami Herald.

“Most of the companies, including WWE, they have their own doctors,” Patron stated. “They don’t provide you with health insurance. They force you to get your own health insurance. If you don’t get you own insurance, you’re not allowed to perform. If anything happens in their shows, yes you’re completely covered, which I think is the only company doing that.”

Patron added, “It’s really important to give a worker everything they deserve: health insurance, life insurance, a retirement plan. Stuff they’ve never had before.”

Nacion Lucha Libre’s debut show is 8 p.m. Friday, July 11 at Sala de Armas in Mexico City, Mexico.

The following matches are currently confirmed for the event.

  • Alberto & El Hijo del Fantasma & L.A. Park vs. Apolo & Mesias & MVP
  • Matt Sydal & Mystery Partner vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Mecha Wolf 450
  • Bandido vs. Rey Horus
  • Brazo de Oro Jr. & Dual & El Hijo de Dos Caras vs. Batab El Guerrero & Bram & La Mascara

Nacion Lucha Libre will be available on Imagen TV, shows will begin broadcasting 10:30 p.m. Sundays, beginning July 13.
