Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang has taken to Twitter to request WWE Superstars to contact a labor attorney.
WWE came under fire last year after an edict was put in place preventing it’s Superstars from using third party platforms. This included the gaming platform Twitch, which was used by various WWE Superstars throughout the pandemic while they were unable to interact with their fans.
Following the incident, Yang expressed his displeasure with WWE’s treatment of their Superstars, and promised that should Joe Biden win the presidential election he would like to help current and former employees gain more freedom with their contracts.
“If we win I’m going to be in a position where I can call up the Secretary of Labor, or in this case, it’s the National Labor Relations Board and then bring suit against the WWE and say, ‘hey I think you are misclassifying your employees here’ and the damages here would be really significant. That is more or less the plan. We may need to have some brave performer or ex-performer come forward, and say “here are the practices,” Yang stated during an interview on TalkIsJericho.
On Wednesday afternoon, Yang took to Twitter to reveal that he had a call with the Department of Labor, and urged WWE Superstars of the past and present who feel they were ‘misclassified as an independent contractor’ to contact attorney Lucas Middlebrook to ‘get what Vince owes you’.
Had a call with the Department of Labor. If you are a current or former @WWE performer who feels you were misclassified as an independent contractor contact @lkmiddleb and let’s get you what Vince owes you. Been a long time coming but this storyline is real.

Following his original Tweet, Yang provided an update stating that the ‘early returns are positive’.

Yang also responded to an account on Twitter who criticized him, by stating that ‘2 years ago the Department of Labor was managed by someone who was very close to Vince. Times change.’
