WWE Planning To Revamp Nation of Domination?
WWE reportedly has plans to revive the 90s faction Nation Of Domination for the modern-era. The group, which was formed in 1996 was lead by Farooq (Ron Simmons) during its formation in WWE.
Ron Simmons returned to WWE television during Monday Night RAW, and his appearance was originally part of plans to reboot the stable.
It’s unknown if WWE plans to move forward with plans, but Simmons appearance last night was part of an angle to reform the stable during initial creative plans.
Dave Meltzer noted the following during Tuesday’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.
There was an idea, I don’t know if it was dropped, it was going to be on the show for a revamping of the Nation Of Domination, and Ron Simmons was going to be part of that angle. They dropped that angle for this show, they may be building to it later, they may have dropped it completely. They had brought him in for that angle, that’s why he was on television
During the episode, Simmons had segments with Bobby Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin. He was later seen speaking to The Viking Raiders.
History Of Nation Of Domination Stable
The original Nation Of Dominion stable was formed in USWA in 1996, led by tag-team PG-13. The idea was later brought to WWE, based loosely on the Nation Of Islam and the Black Panther Party.
Members in WWE’s version of the stable included Farooq (Ron Simmons), Rocky Maivia (The Rock), Owen Hart, D’Lo Brown, Savio Vega, Mark Henry, and Ahmed Johnson. The group was featured on WWE television from 1996-1998.
As of today, Mark Henry, Ron Simmons, and The Godfather are the only remaining superstars who are signed to WWE legends deals.
