Last night on Collision, Bryan Danielson made headlines by announcing winding down on his wrestling career in 2024. T

The announcement on Collision doesn’t mean Danielson is retiring or leaving AEW altogether. Sports Illustrated reports that he’ll continue to make special appearances, becoming more of a “special attraction” as opposed to a full-time wrestler.

Adding to the excitement, Danielson also challenged Zack Sabre Jr. to a match at the inaugural Wrestle Dream pay-per-view event scheduled for October 1. This match is slated to take place in Danielson’s home state of Washington, and it’s highly anticipated, especially since it was originally planned for last year but got postponed due to injuries.

Danielson’s influence in AEW goes beyond the ring; he’s built a strong relationship with AEW CEO Tony Khan and has become one of his key advisers. So, while he may be reducing his in-ring appearances by 2024, it’s clear Danielson will continue to play a significant role in AEW’s future.

This is big news, especially considering Danielson’s iconic career in the wrestling industry. Many fans remember him from his WWE days, where he performed as Daniel Bryan and became a central figure in the “Yes Movement,” not to mention capturing numerous titles like the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Danielson pointed to family commitments, particularly as his daughter approaches her seventh birthday, as a key reason for reducing his wrestling schedule.

Danielson’s WWE career was nothing short of spectacular, but he eventually left the company. Among the reasons for his departure were creative limitations and a desire for a more flexible schedule. His move to AEW was met with excitement, and he’s been a significant player in the promotion ever since.
