CM Punk met with FOX officials earlier this week for a potential on-air role for WWE Backstage, the new FS1 show debuting on 11/5.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Punk was at the FOX studios in Los Angeles earlier this week and filmed test footage for the show. WWE’s Renee Young was also present during the filming.
It is unknown if Punk signed on for the series, which would put him on the FOX payroll if he agreed to come on board.
Last month reports surfaced indicating CM Punk’s agent reached out to FOX regarding an audition for the in-studio WWE show on the network.
FOX has also had meetings with former ECW Champion Taz, Sean Waltman, Rey Mysterio, and Paige for potential roles on the show.
The format for the show has yet to be finalized, but will be lead by Renee Young and Booker T. The hosts alongside 3 – 5 personalities will have a panel discussion about current happenings in the WWE.
The first episode will air on 11/5 at 11:00 pm ET on FS1.
