Following his ROH World Championship win, CMLL announced they are releasing RUSH from the company.
CMLL made a statement on Twitter indicating both RUSH and Dragon Lee are no longer with the promotion, due to “not following programming and company guidelines”.
According to Dave Meltzer, Dragon Lee went against CMLL’s orders not to compete in the recent PWG Battle Of Los Angeles event. Following his return to Mexico, Lee was taken off any up-coming dates, including last night’s 86th anniversary card.
There have been a lot of issues backstage at CMLL following the death of Paco Alonso. Alonso’s daughter Sofia is in control of the promotion, but her uncle Chavo Lutteroth is the one making all the financial designs. Lutteroth has began cutting guaranteed contracts of several stars, as well as increase the cut the promotion receives for booking talent in the U.S.
CMLL owns the names RUSH and Dragon Lee in Mexico, and if either stars wish to compete in that country they will have to do so under a different name.
RUSH and Dragon Lee both participated in last night’s Ring Of Honor Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view in Las Vegas.
RUSH’s contract with Ring Of Honor is set to expire at the end of the year.
