Mixed-Tag Match Announced
Shaquille O’Neil and Jade Cargill will face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on the March 3 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Last week, Shaquille O’Neil issued a challenge during the AEW Awards on B/R Live this evening. Cody Rhodes accepted the challenge during that night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but not for a singles match.
Arn Anderson brought out Red Velvet, who has had issues with Jade Cargill in the past. Cody and Red Velvet challenged Shaquille O’Neil and Jade Cargill to a match.
The match was made official during AEW’s Beach Break event.

The NBA legend made an appearance on AEW Dynamite in December, interviewed alongside Brandi Rhodes, who had her in arm in a sling following an attack by Jade Cargill weeks earlier. Jade Cargill appeared briefly during last week’s episode, interrupting a match between Cody Rhodes and Peter Avalon.
Last August, Warnermedia teased a future appearance by retired basketball legend. Shaq made a cameo during an episode of Being The Elite, and was backstage at last year’s Full Gear pay-per-view.
Shaq made an appearance at Wrestlemania 32, competing in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
WWE and Shaquille O’Neil continued discussions, with a planned match against The Big Show originally scheduled for Wrestlemania 33. According to O’Neil, talks between both parties broke down after WWE apparently shifting plans multiple times.
In an interview with TMZ, O’Neil stated, “First, they said it was me and Big Show. Then, they said it was going to be three-on-three. Then, they canceled it, so when they canceled it, I made other arrangements.”
