WWE is once again dealing with significant issues related to the pandemic as the omricon variant of COVID-19 spreads throughout the world.

According to PW Insider, a many talents in WWE were said to be feeling run down following last weekend’s live events and television tapings, with some later testing positive for the coronavirus. The ones who have not tested positive are still awaiting test results. While this will not affect Friday’s taped episode of SmackDown, the post-holiday tour is most likely going to be in jeopardy.

It is relatively unknown how deeply these issues will impact WWE, but with the timing of the positive tests and quarantine requirements it feels nearly impossible for there to be repercussions.

WWE has yet to cancel any events in the United States since this news has broken but next week’s event Laval, Quebec has been postponed due to provincial restrictions

Kevin Michie from Sportsnet reports that the event in Toronto will now be running at 50% capacity restrictions, but that could change if numbers get worse.

Per sources, as of right now the WWE Live Event at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto on Dec 29 is still happening, with the 50% capacity restrictions. If government restrictions tighten/change, then we would see postponement. But as of now the show is on.@PatLaprade @iamjohnpollock

The Coca Cola Coliseum confirmed the report, offering refunds to those who wish not to attend, but does plan to continue to show at a reduced capacity. Due to provincial restrictions, no food or drink will be offered at the event, and masks are required throughout the show.

The following message was sent out regarding the WWE live event in Toronto next week.

FOX has canceled their “New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022” special that was set to air next Friday night. This was the reason WWE SmackDown is being bumped to FS1 on New Year’s Eve. It’s been reported that due to the bump, WWE went with a Year In Review show for SmackDown that night. No replacement program has been announced as of this writing.
