Daniel Bryan’s recently spoke to ESPN about the the protocol WWE has in place after each match he competes in.

After being cleared for in-ring competition, the WWE put in strict guidelines that must be adhered to in order for Daniel Bryan to continue wrestling.

As soon as Daniel Bryan leaves the ring and arrives backstage, he must solve a math problem to ensure his brain is functioning properly. Bryan has to take the number 8, multiply it by three, and then multiple that number by three, and divide it all by four.

If Bryan fails this simple math test, he cannot wrestle.

This is one of many tests a WWE doctor performs on Daniel Bryan following any physical activity in the ring.

First, he gets his eyes checked, then he goes through balance tests, and lastly he he is asked to do a math problem. The WWE isn’t taking any chances with Bryan, who has suffered 10 documented concussions.

“It’s still pretty much the same, but we’re working on loosening it up a little bit because our doctors do have to look after other people, right?

“So it’s like, I go out, I do a match and I’m fine and they’re having to do all these tests with me, so we’re working on loosening that up a little bit. But that’s more of a thing as far as getting everything legally to where we could do that sort of thing.”

Daniel Bryan is also working a lighter schedule. In his last year wrestling before he retired, he was working 227 days a year. In 2019, Bryan is scheduled to work around 120 days. This allows him more time to recover, and spend time with his family.

“I think the schedule that I’m on now is pretty much the schedule that I’ll stick to, if not even a little bit lighter as I get older,”

“I’m 37 now, I’ll be 38 this year, and all this takes a toll on your body. I love wrestling, like love, love, love wrestling, and anyone who knows me knows I love wrestling — but it’s no longer the No. 1 love of my life. I want to be able to spend time with my family, I want to be able to take vacation, I want to be able to do some of those fun things. I envision it being this schedule or lighter, probably, from here on out.”

Bryan will continue to take tests for the duration of his time with the WWE, unless otherwise noted by a doctor. As of right now, there is no plans to deviate from his post-match testing
