AJ Styles has reportedly signed a new deal with WWE.
Last month, Dave Meltzer noted that AJ Styles had signed a new deal with WWE, however little details were revealed regarding the new contract.
Fightful Select have now provided an update on the situation, confirming Meltzer’s previous report.
Fightful noted that while the exact length of the deal isn’t known, it’s said to be a ‘multi-year deal’.
Styles’ previous contract was set to expire this spring/summer, which prior to re-signing would would have seen him become a free agent for the first time since leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling back in 2016 prior to signing with WWE.
It was noted that as with other major Superstars, WWE wanted to re-sign Styles before he became a free agent to prevent other promotions from talking to him. Styles is said to be happy in WWE currently, and has shown interest in working with the company after he retires from wrestling.
Per Fightful, Styles’ new deal is big money, as he will receive ‘well over’ $3 million per year. Several people noted that ‘he deserved every penny’, and that he ‘would easily make it back for the company’. Some travel was also paid for as part of his deal.
While Styles hasn’t specified when he plans on retiring, it was noted that he’s said that if anything occurs where he is no longer able to wrestle, he is very satisfied with what he has accomplished.
