Update: According to PWInsider, Drew Gulak was not released, as his contract expired.
The report indicates Gulak and WWE were unable to reach a new agreement, and he decided to depart the company.
We have confirmed with multiple sources today that Gulak’s WWE contract expired after last night’s Smackdown was taped. We are told the two sides had been discussing a new deal, but had not yet come to terms on the deal before Gulak’s existing deal expired.
Due to Gulak’s contract expiring, he does not have a 90-day non-compete clause, and is able to work for any company immediately.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Drew Gulak has been released from his WWE contract.
The news comes after Gulak’s profile was moved to the alumni section on WWE.com
Fightful Select (subscription required) notes that Drew Gulak’s WWE was yet to expire, and he had yet to sign a new deal.
Drew Gulak signed a deal with WWE in 2016.
He had his last match during Friday’s edition of Smackdown, competing in the Intercontinental Championship tournament.
