WWE taped the next two weeks of NXT television last night for the (7/27) and (8/3 episodes. Due to scheduling conflict with the Olympics, these episodes will be taking place on SYFY, in their regular timeslots.
Tuesday July 27
Ridge Holland returned to NXT following a nine-month absence, assisting Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan in beating down Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.
Samoa Joe offered his resignation as NXT’s enforcer to be able to face Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship. Regal initially contemplated firing Kross, however he agreed to the deal and made the match between Samoa Joe and Karrion Kross at TakeOver 36 (August 22) official, which will be for the NXT Championship.
Carmelo Hayes defeated Josh Briggs in a first round match for the NXT Breakout Tournament.
NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai came to the ring and cut a promo on the reign, saying how dominant Gonzalez has been. However as they went to leave, Kai hit Gonzalez with a kick and held up the NXT Women’s Title.
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter defeated Franky Monet and Jessi Kamea, who were accompanied by Robert Stone.
Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium defeated Top Dolla and Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis of Hit Row, due to a distraction from Legado Del Fantasma.
Adam Cole defeated Bronson Reed, then Kyle O’Reilly attacked Cole with a steel chair after the match.
Tuesday August 3
Ridge Holland, who was accompanied by Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan defeated Ikemen Jiro. After the match, Dunne cut a promo on Thatcher and Ciampa.
Indi Hartwell was given a drawing by Dexter Lumis backstage, however Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae weren’t happy. Gargano v Lumis was then announced for the main event, with the stipulation being that if Gargano wins, Lumis has to stop following Indi.
The Grizzled Young Veterans defeated LA Knight and Cameron Grimes. After the match Knight left Grimes in the ring, however Ted DiBease returned to help him up.
Trey Baxter defeated Joe Gacy in a first round match of the NXT Breakout Tournament.
Top Dolla and Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis of Hit Row defeated Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde of Legado Fel Fantasma via disqualification after Santos Escobar hit Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott with a steel chair.
NXT Champion Karrion Kross cut a promo in the ring ahead of his match at TakeOver, which led to a pull-apart brawl between him and Samoa Joe.
Johnny Gargano defeated Dexter Lumis in the ‘Love her or Lose her’ match, however Indi still left with Lumis to close NXT.
