At the recent NXT TV tapings Johnny Gargano won a fatal four-way match to become a #1 contender for Andrade “Cien” Almas.
At the tv tapings they held the following matches to determine participants in the fatal four-way.
- Trent Seven vs. Killian Dain
- Kassius Ohno vs. Johnny Gargano
- Roderick Strong vs. Lars Sullivan
- Adam Cole vs. Aleister Black
The fatal four-way taped the same night had Johnny Gargano win and become #1 contender to the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: Philly.
A video posted on the NXT Twitter account announces Kassius Ohno vs. Velveteen Dream as a qualifying match, rather than Gargano vs. Dream. This would lead some to believe that Gargano is no longer participating in the #1 contenders tournament.
Will the WWE tape a match between Velveteen Dream and Kassius Ohno this weekend during house shows? They could also run a backstage segment where Gargano replaces Velveteen Dream. Velveteen Dream was not at the NXT TV tapings, so this seems like a more plausible plan.
