Cox Radio has reached a confidential settlement with Hulk Hogan, following a $110M lawsuit against the media company.
According to Spectrum News 9, a settlement was reached before a jury trial scheduled to begin in January 2021.Radio DJs Mike “Cowhead” Calta and Matt “Spiceboy” Loyd were defendants who were accused of conspiring to leak a sex video showing Hulk Hogan having sex with fellow radio DJ Bubba Clem.
According to court records, a sex tape began circulating in Cox Radio studios in 2012. Hogan claims he was a victim of “radio wars” between Mike Calta and Bubba Clem.
Hogan ended up being terminated by WWE following a leak to the National Enquirer in 2015, where he used the “N” word on the video.
In 2016, a jury found Gawker media guilty of invading Hogan’s privacy and was ordered to pay $141 million in damages. Gawker went bankrupt and settled with Hulk Hogan for $31 million.
Hogan was seeking the remaining balance of $110 million from Cox Radio, which has denied and fought allegations in court for almost four years before settling this week.
Due to the confidentiality of the settlement, numbers have not been revealed.
