Reason LAX Was Pulled From Match With NXT Talent At Evolve Event
It was announced yesterday that LAX were no longer going to appear at two up-coming EVOLVE shows next month. EVOLVE owner Gabe Sabolsky stated that Impact pulled LAX from the event, and didn’t provide any further details.
On December 15th LAX were originally scheduled to be in a Triple Threat Match with The Street Profits and AR Fox and Leon Ruff for the EVOLVE Tag Team Titles. On December 16th, The Street Profits and Darby Allin were set to face LAX and Austin Theory.
Mike Johnson spoke on this story today on PWInsider Elite and says Impact requested LAX to be removed from the show, because they didn’t want WWE owning footage of “TNA Guys” being pinned by NXT talent.
“It was Impact who pulled them, I was told specifically they didn’t want LAX in the ring with NXT guys. They didn’t want footage in the WWE video library of TNA guys getting beaten by WWE guys. They(LAX) would have….politically they would have got pinned, they didn’t want WWE having that content”
LAX’s deal with Impact Wrestling according to Johnson is up in the new few months, and Impact will attempt to work out a new contract with the group.
WWE has a relationship with EVOLVE and Gabe Sabolsky works as an advisor in NXT. WWE plans on having footage from EVOLVE air on the WWE Network in the near future.
We reached out yesterday to Impact Wrestling’s PR team, but have yet to receive a response.
