Speaking Out Accuser Failed To Respond To Lawsuit

Joseph R. Meehan, better known in wrestling circles as Joey Ryan has won a default judgement against a woman who made allegations against him during the Speaking Out movement last summer. As first revealed by SoCalUncensored, the defendant in the case did not respond in time, resulting in the judgement in Meehan’s favor.

Meehan filed the lawsuit in the United States District and Central Court on 10/7, claiming the women made false allegations against him, resulting in damages to his reputation and his livelihood.

According to court documents obtained by HeelByNature.com, Meehan’s legal counsel states the defendant was served with a court summons and copy of the complaint by a processing agent on 10/26. She did not respond to the summons or complaint.

On or about October 26, 2020, I received notice from One Legal that the summons, pleadings and documents were served on defendant by substitute service on that same day. After being directed to do so by One Legal, I received the proof of service by downloading the proof of service from the One Legal website, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit 1 and on file herein as Document number 10.

I have not received any communication from any person purporting to be [REDACTED] or a representative of [REDACTED]. Defendant, [REDACTED], has not responded to the Summons and Complaint served on her on October 26, 2020 under Fed. R. Civ. P. 12 or otherwise within the time period provided by law

According to court records, the summons was left at her residence, but not personally served to her.

I received the within process on 10/9/2020 and that after due and diligent effort I have been unable to personally serve said party. The following itemization of the dates and times of attempts details the efforts required to effect personal service.

The defendant in this case now has the option to file a motion to have the default set aside, which will allow her another chance to move forward with the case. She would need to to provide a valid reason to why a response was not provided in a timely fashion.

Joey Ryan has filed multiple lawsuits since allegations have been levied against him during the Speaking Out movement last summer. Earlier this month, two lawsuits were dismissed by a California judge, one has since been re-filed in Pennsylvania courts.

He still has multiple outstanding lawsuits in the court system, one against IMPACT Wrestling for allegedly breaching his contract, as well another against a women who made accusations against him.

The former IMPACT Wrestling star took to Twitter earlier this week, stating he has not committed any crimes, and doesn’t know why others believe he should live like one.
