WWE star John Cena was officially announced as a cast member in the next instalment of the Suicide Squad movie series.

Director James Gunn unveiled the cast today via Twitter.

Earlier this year, Variety entertainment reporter Justin Croll announced that Cena was rumored to play Peacemaker in the film. The character was originally going to be portrayed by former WWE star Dave Bautista, who reportedly passed on the role due to his busy schedule.

The film is scheduled to begin filming this month in Atlanta, which a tentative release date of August, 2021.
