John Cena Texted Roman Reigns The Day Of His Leukaemia Announcement
John Cena is back in the U.S promoting his latest movie Transformer spinoff Bumblebee, and while making his media rounds this week he spoke with Chris Van Vliet from the Deco Drive.
Cena revealed several things in this interview , including keeping his current hairstyle, which has gained mixed reviews from fans, and also his communication with Roman Reigns since his leukaemia announcement, and opened up on being a part time WWE star.
Cena spoke on texting Roman Reigns the day of his leukaemia announcement
” I texted him the day of the announcement just letting him know that he is in really good hands, he is part of an exclusive fraternity. We all love him for what he’s done. We all respect the fact that he is taking care of his health, which is first and foremost, and I told him if he needs anything he knows where to find me, and I know Joe and I know Joe is a tough SOB, I don’t ever expect him to say ‘hey man, I need this’, I don’t ever expect to get that text but if I do I think we have a mutual understanding that it’s as good as done.”
John Cena Would Like To Turn Heel
Cena spoke on returning to the WWE for live events, as he wants to get the creative juices flowing once again. He mentioned that he does have feelings of wanting to become a heel, but knows that is not going to happen, due to Vince McMahon. He understands his job in the WWE is being what people know him best for, being John Cena.
“There is creative feelings inside me, who would like to be a bad guy on WWE, that ain’t gonna happen because that’s not my job. My job is to be who I am and that comes from my director (Vince McMahon), I come from that school of thought of talk to your coach, talk to the person who’s running the show”
Apologizing To The Rock, And Being A Part-Timer
Cena also talked on how he was vocal about The Rock being labeled a “part-timer”, and now he’s going down that same road. Cena explained that he thinks people are 100% right in thinking that, and that he was selfish in trying to get The Rock back to the WWE when he was in Hollywood making movies. Cena explained that he owes a lot to The Rock, both in the WWE, and in the movies, for him paving the way for wrestlers to transition into Hollywood. He apologized to The Rock in saying those statements, and at the time he didn’t realize the magnitude of importance as he was in his WWE bubble.
Cena also mentioned that being in movies does restrict him from working wrestling events, because if he got hurt, it would impact the movie.
“When you do a movie, you are not allowed to do anything else, because if I go do Monday Night Raw, and Seth Rollins breaks my nose over here, that messes up the movie, and that’s not just ‘messing up the movie’, people don’t understand, there is 150 people on a movie set, we are financially dependent on that movie being done on time, that movie moving costs everybody money, and sets the movie up to fail, which means we don’t get to do another movie, which means people don’t get to make money, it’s their livelihood”
John Cena is scheduled to return to the WWE beginning on 12/26 at Madison Square Garden, and has several live events lined up in January
